Privacy Policy — NextGoal Running

Overview

NextGoal Running collects only what is necessary to operate the app. This policy explains what data the app accesses, including health and fitness data, how that data is used, whether it is shared, and the choices available to you.

Health Data: What We Collect and Why

NextGoal Running collects one category of health data: body weight, which you may optionally enter in the app's Settings screen.

What is collected

Body weight (optional) — a numeric value you type into the app. The app supports both kilograms and pounds.

How it is used

To personalise the Fueling Calculator — calculating carbohydrate loading targets, hydration recommendations, and pre-race nutrition guidance based on your body weight.
No other feature reads or uses your body weight.

How it is stored and protected

Body weight is stored only on your device using Android's SharedPreferences (local device storage). It is never transmitted off your device, never uploaded to any server, and never shared with any third party.
The field is entirely optional. Leaving it blank has no effect on core app functionality.

What we do NOT do with health data

We do not sell body weight or any other health data.
We do not use health data for advertising, marketing, or user profiling.
We do not share health data with advertisers, analytics providers, or any other third party.
We do not access any platform health service (such as Google Health Connect, Google Fit, or Apple Health). No workout history, step counts, heart rate, or similar fitness data is read from your device.

How to delete it

Clear the body weight field in Settings at any time, or uninstall the app to remove all local app data.

The app does not collect device identifiers, location data, contacts, camera/microphone data, or any data from platform health services.

How We Use Information

Power the Fueling Calculator and pre-race nutrition guidance using the body weight you optionally provide.
Provide race planning features: pace calculator, pacing strategy, race-day checklist, and race card management.
Restore your saved race and strategy state between sessions.
Improve reliability, performance, and fix bugs.
Respond to support requests.

App Permissions

NextGoal Running requests the following Android permissions:

Permission	Why it is needed
`INTERNET`	Retrieve race date and event information from public websites when you use the race search feature. No personal data is sent in these requests.
`WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE` (Android 9 and below only)	Save a generated PDF pace band to your device's Downloads folder so you can print or share it. On Android 10+, no storage permission is required for this.
`ACCESS_NOTIFICATION_POLICY`	Required by the audio plugin to check Do Not Disturb status before playing optional celebration sounds.

The app does not request permissions for health services, location, camera, microphone, contacts, or biometric data.

Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell personal data, including health data. Health and fitness data accessed by the app is not disclosed to third parties for advertising or marketing. Data may be processed by service providers only when necessary to operate app features, provide support, comply with legal obligations, or protect the app and its users.

Data Retention

All app data, including any body weight you enter, is stored only on your device and retained until you clear it in Settings or uninstall the app. No personal data is stored on remote servers.

Security

All personal data, including body weight, is stored locally on your device using Android's standard secure storage mechanisms. No personal data is transmitted off your device by the app. Network requests made by the app (race search) do not include any personal or health data.

Children’s Privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13.

Your Choices

Body weight: Clear the field in Settings at any time. The app functions fully without it.
Race & checklist data: Delete individual items in-app or uninstall the app to remove all local data.
Support emails: Contact us to request deletion of any support correspondence you have sent.
